Only after posting all over this thread did I finally sit down and listen to 6-18-83 Morning Dew. The audience recording is not very sharp but lets all the instruments shine through nonetheless. As others have noticed, Phil is droppin' bombs and playing lead guitar. That 6 string sounds fantastic!

Even more so, I was pleasantly surprised and moved by Jerry's singing which lacks the harshness/croaky-ness that you hear so often in the 80s.

Not sure if this is the best ever, but is a VERY effective reading of the song and judging from the AUD recording, the crowd thought so too. The joy of life is very palpable in the soundscape during the final jam.

This show flies way under the radar because of the lack of SBD - If a board of this show would have been available over the last 26 years - everyone would be singing the praises. Granted, it's not the greatest show ever, just a damn good one from 83.

Thus the case with many shows from many era's.

"Thats a whole nother debate"

Perfect example 6-24-70

And how many 60's and early 70's show with no boards that don't get the respect they deserve.

Cool...I agree w/your comment that 5/8/77 is probably best of the best...but for the '80's this one tops my list too...jerry really belts out the lyrics-- just growling during the "young man moan this morning" section, and then the jam to the end is serious stuff....nothin' like a good Dew!
